Seen along the road...

In the Toto-I-guess-we're-not-in-Kansas-anymore Department: Who knew that there would be a "Clown Horns" problem over here Down Range?

I'd never seen a "NO CLOWN HORNS" traffic sign before arriving in this war zone. I photographed this near a place once frequented by Saddam Hussein. There are now a lot of American "Grand-Poohbah" types nearby.

Given that we are in the midst of a war, one might think that the levity attendant upon hearing a clown horn blaring in the midst of the chaos and fog of war might lift the spirits of those downtrodden souls whose lives have been torn asunder by violence. How cruel-hearted must be the one(s) who perceived a problem with Clown Horns to begin with, and then went to the trouble of crafting and posting this sign in response!

So, what I want to know is: When was this sign put up, and by whom?

If by Saddam, then perhaps he was an even worse person than anyone had heretofore imagined....

Or is someone calling us "Bozos"?

Blessings and peace to one and all,

Fr. Tim, SJ
