Rich blessings, throughout 2009, to all who read this!
May this new year bring each of us fresh ideas, vibrant rainbows, healing touch, gentle breezes, bounteous harvests, generous sharing, spiritual deepening, soft rains, nurturing laughter, and a forgiving spirit.
May we come to cherish our families and friends, and learn to love our enemies.
May we begin to treat the earth with deserved respect, and recognize our tenure here as fragile and blessed.
May we who are Christians live the challenge of Jesus' great prayer for unity among his followers (Jn 16: 20-21).
May "enemies begin to speak to one another, those were estranged join hands in friendship, and nations seek the way of peace together [because] understanding puts and end to strife, hatred is quenched by mercy, and vengeance gives way to forgiveness." (Eucharistic Prayer for Reconciliation II)
May we not take ourselves so seriously while we finally take seriously those whom we would rather dismiss, ignore, judge, or condemn.
May we live in the present moment, in the Presence of the Divine -- of a God-with-us, Emmanuel --one day at a time.
May we come to realize that God is doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
Blessings and peace to one and all on this Seventh Day of Christmas,
Fr. Tim, SJ
