The 2008-2009 Farewell Tour

SFC McG and I have visited quite a number of Joint Security Stations (JSS), Combat Outposts (COP), Forward Operating Bases (FOB), Contingency Operating Bases (COB), Patrol Bases (PB), and Camps (CAMP) over the time we've been Down Range.

At last count, it was 30 places in all. Before we're out of here, it could even be more. (I think we've been outside the wire almost eighty times at this point -- not bad for a non-combatant who was initially told that 80% of my time would be in the office.)

So SFC McG is designing us a unit t-shirt to memorialize the experience. He's showed me a concept rendering (he's very creative), and I can't wait to see the finished product. Among other things, it has an outline of the country on the back, with a listing of all the places we've been, filling up the interior.

When he's finished with it, and about to send it off to be manufactured, I'll post the design.

It looks a lot like the t-shirts that fans of performers wear.

I'm thinking, given my worsening plantar fasciitis, bone chips in one ankle, patellar tendonitis, and the fact that we're the "Geriatric Unit Ministry Team," we might call ourselves "The Grateful Almost-Dead."

Blessings and peace to one and all,
