Bitten by the budget crunch

First Army requires that all deploying Unit Ministry Teams (UMTs) complete some training that's only offered a few times over the course of the year, in various parts of the country. I went to this training sixteen months ago, before I deployed to Iraq.

One of the last opportunities for this training is happening right now, and all the other UMTs going to Kosovo are at that training.

SPC C and I are not, however, in part because of California's budget woes.

Interesting, eh?

Blessings and peace to one and all,

Fr. Tim, SJ

And maybe there is a Power that is allowing your not-so-young body to rest after it's strenuous workout on the 10th! I was taught to say, "Thank You, God, for the seemingly good, and thank You, God, for the seemingly bad!" by a dude who hangs out with sober alcoholics a lot. God can even make use of a budget crunch for divine purposes.

True enough, Mary, but the training in question is taking place at a hotel in Hawai'i....

I guess I forgot to mention that!

I guess I should be thankful that I get spoiled at the hotels in Hawaii when not deployed. We had CAST training on post last year, but my CH and I didn't attend because we were prepping for our deployment readiness training. This year, my good friend received a coin from CH Carver for her awesome work with the Strong Bonds program, working a million dollar budget for our little brigade! I have worked many Strong Bonds events at some very nice hotels in Hawaii. I'm sorry you weren't able to get there, you would have enjoyed the Island!
